Job Description

Irvine law firm seeking a full time Accounts Payable Specialist. The ideal candidate is a team player who will enter accounts payable, support check runs, compile data, file documents, and assist with various functions within the accounting department. Journal Entries/and some GL would be ideal. Onsite 830am-5pm

Key Responsibilities

  • Submit invoices for approval; processes, verifies, and enters invoices for payment.
  • Ensures accuracy, data integrity, thoroughness, and timeliness.
  • Post to correct general ledger accounts by analyzing invoice/expense, matching purchase orders, and recording manual payments.
  • Interface effectively with employees, partners and outside vendors.
  • Prepare weekly check runs, issue stop-payments, and research discrepancies.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and effectively resolve issues.
  • Understand compliance issues around accounts payable processes (W-9, 1099, etc.).
  • Participate in various aspects of the monthly/quarterly closing process.
  • Special projects on an as needed basis.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • 3+ year of experience in accounts payable preferred
  • General knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Organized, flexible and easily adaptable to changing conditions
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel skills
