Children's Book Editor

Pauline Books & Media, the publishing house of the Daughters of St. Paul and premier publisher of Catholic children's books, has an opening for an Children's Book Editor to join our acquisitions and development team. This person will work closely with our current Children's Book Editors and our editorial, design, and marketing staff to help us produce quality children's books and teacher resources. Because our content is geared to young Catholic readers, we are looking for a candidate with a solid background in Catholic theology and recent experience in children's catechesis/education. Love for children's literature is a must! If you have-

RESPONSIBILITIES

Contribute ideas for new acquisition projects in line with the mission of Pauline Books & Media.
Review and evaluate new manuscript proposals.
Present projects at meetings of the editorial and publishing teams.
Work with authors in the process of writing/developing their books.
Maintain project checklists and database.
Shepherd projects through the editing and design process.
Write concise, compelling back cover copy.

REQUIREMENTS

Four-year college degree or equivalent work experience.
Extensive knowledge of the Catholic faith.
Background in children's teaching/catechesis (preferably either with teens or with pre-school/primary school-aged children) is a plus.
Excellent writing and copywriting skills.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365, particularly MS Word's track-changes function.
Attention to detail.
Ability to handle several projects simultaneously.
Desire to learn and grow through your work.
Love for children's books.
