Job Summary
- Prepares medications under the direction of a pharmacist and assists with related job duties
General Accountabilities
- Receives and verifies written prescriptions or refill requests for accuracy.
- Mixes pharmaceutical preparations according to written prescriptions.
- Maintains proper storage and ensures necessary security of drugs.
- Establishes and maintains patient profiles.
- Answers telephones to discuss or answer patient requests or questions.
- Assists patients at the pharmacy by answering simple questions, locating items or referring them to the pharmacist for medication information.
- Prices and then files prescriptions that have been filled.
- Receives and stores incoming drug or other related pharmacy supplies.
- Verifies invoices and physical quantities received of incoming items.
- Monitors medications in the pharmaceutical inventory to keep in stock medications current and disposes of outdated medications.
- Works with buyer or purchasing agent to keep medications in stock to acceptable levels.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested

Job Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Associate's Degree or equivalent or vocational school certificate required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Minimum Experience: Must have at least two (2) years of related experience or vocational training.
Skills: Laboratory
- Must have a compounding pharmacy experience. Must possess the ability to measure, mix and/or count out appropriate quantities of pharmaceuticals.
- Must possess the ability to operate typical pharmaceutical equipment and computer software.
- Must possess the knowledge of creating and affixing labels to prescribed medications.
- Must possess the knowledge to pre-pack bulk medicines.
Skills
- Must possess the knowledge to correctly record amounts and dosages of various medications of filled prescription orders into the recordkeeping system.
- Must possess the ability to know how to price and file prescriptions that have been filled.
- Must possess basic knowledge of the language and terminologies used in the pharmaceutical field.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
