Job Description The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Infrastructure is seeking a Coordinator (Sustainability) to join the Sustainable Coordination team. The selected candidate will assist in identifying risks and design issues for various infrastructure projects; assist with the team’s portfolio of capital projects, with an emphasis on storm water management and sustainable design; be the key contact for assigned projects throughout the scoping, design, and construction procurement phase; utilize the agency’s technical resources to ensure that their projects meet DDC’s Commitment Plan objectives; apprise their supervisors of scheduling, construction and design issues; liaise between contractor and DDC; maintain comprehensive project history files; coordinate project schedules; maintain and update the agency’s database regarding Infrastructure projects reviewed by Front End Planning; and assist with projects affecting Infrastructure design and master planning for sustainable design and help develop policies to support design excellence. Minimum Qualifications A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of satisfactory full‑time experience in city planning; or A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience that is equivalent to “1” above. Graduate education in city planning, urban planning, urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, transportation engineering, public administration, economic development or related fields may be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 graduate semester credits from an accredited college for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have a baccalaureate degree. Special Qualification Requirements Assignment Level III: To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level III, individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements, one additional year of professional experience as described in “2” above. Assignment Level IV: To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level IV, individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements, two additional years of professional experience as described in “2” above. Preferred Skills Outstanding verbal and written communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Project management knowledge relevant to infrastructure work (i.e., roadway, sewer, and/or water main) Detail‑oriented; ability to manage projects and complete multiple multi‑trade projects on schedule Experience with stormwater management projects, as well as a background in sustainable and resilient design and rating systems Proficient in Primavera P6 scheduling and Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential (preferred) Valid driver’s license (optional but highly recommended) Personal vehicle (optional) 55(a) Program This position is also open to qualified persons with a disability who are eligible for the 55(a) Program.
