Event Manager:
  • Reports to: Director of Events
  • Schedule: Varies by demand. Typical schedule will be 6:00 PM - 2:00 AM on event days.
  • Pay Rate: $19.23/hour ($28.85 for time after 11:00 PM)

JOB SUMMARY

Discovery World is seeking a dynamic and experienced Event Manager to assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of private events held at our venue. The Event Manager will report to the Director of Events and supervise a team of Event Attendants and Event Technicians working closely with clients, vendors, and internal teams to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality events that exceed client expectations. Availability to work nights and weekends will be required as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

  • Maintain accurate event calendar and documents in collaboration with the Director of Events and Discovery World's catering partner.
  • Supervise and schedule Discovery World Event Attendants and Event Technicians maintaining full coverage for all private events.
  • Schedule and supervise event vendors, communicating and enforcing Discovery World's policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Supervise event setup/strike enforcing Discovery World's policies, procedures, and quality standards. Typical schedule will be 6:00 PM - 2:00 AM on event days.
  • Conduct pre-event inspections of event spaces ensuring proper adherence to safety regulations and Discovery World policies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact during private events assisting client, Discovery World staff, Catering Staff, and vendors with any questions or requests ensuring at all times a high level of hospitality.
  • Supervise event strike and conduct post-event inspections ensuring building is returned to normal operating condition in accordance with Discovery World's policies and standards.
  • Provide direction, guidance, and support to team members to ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities and perform their duties to the highest standards.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork, creativity, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. 2+ years experience as an Event Manager or similar role, preferably in a hospitality or venue management setting.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with clients, vendors, and team members.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service and exceeding client expectations.
