Hospice/Palliative Medicine Physician at Saint Alphonsus summary:

The Hospice/Palliative Medicine Physician provides specialized care focusing on symptom management and quality of life improvement for patients with serious chronic illnesses. They work within interdisciplinary teams in both outpatient clinics and hospital settings, collaborating closely with healthcare providers such as nurses, social workers, and pharmacists. This role requires board certification in palliative medicine and adherence to medical licensure and regulatory standards while serving the Boise and Nampa communities.

Location: Boise and Nampa Status: Part-Time (0.6 FTE)

Schedule: Primarily 3 outpatient clinic days per week between the hours of 8am-5pm, Monday Friday with occasional weeks in the hospital (three 8-hour shifts) Mon Sun.

Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) is a physician led and accountable 650+ provider multispecialty group seeking a Palliative Care Physician to join its inpatient & outpatient Palliative Care service. SAMG is dedicated to improving the quality of life and the quality and efficiency of healthcare for patients with chronic conditions. Its team of palliative providers provide:

  • Hospital & outpatient, interdisciplinary team consultations for patients in need of palliative care.
  • Continuing education on palliative care topics for Saint Alphonsus health care providers.


Candidates must be passionate about meeting patients' health needs, and they must have demonstrated proficiency in comprehensive assessment, care planning, symptom management, problem solving and interdisciplinary teamwork. The Palliative Care Physician will work with members of interdisciplinary teams, collaborating daily with palliative care physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, RNs, social workers, chaplains, pharmacists, rehabilitation therapists and other providers. The Palliative Care Physician will practice in accordance with the applicable scope and standards of practice and within the policies, values, and mission of the Saint Alphonsus Health System.


Requirements:
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO).
  • Successful completion of an Accredited ACGME/AOA Family Medicine residency program or Internal Medicine residency program.
  • Board certification through the ABFM or ABIM in Palliative Medicine (or obtain such certification within 3 years of employment).
  • Obtain Idaho medical licensure to practice medicine in all its phases, valid controlled substance registration with Idaho Board of Pharmacy & DEA
