Order#: NY1512111 INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION OVERVIEW The Interim Executive Director will oversee the implementation of the Board of Managers strategic vision for driving the growth of this dynamic and innovative food incubator program. Long term financial sustainability is the most important priority over the next 18 months. This position is available as a full time employee or contract role for 12-18 months, depending on hiring date, and may result in a permanent, full time position. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership and Management Work closely with the Board of Managers to assess and address issues affecting the organization; and create business plans for achieving goals and objectives Meet annual fundraising goals, in partnership with the Board of Managers, by securing financial support from foundations, corporations, individual donors, and government funding sources; and develop a detailed plan for managing cash flow Evaluate current financial management processes with the goal of improving cash flow and creating more efficient operations for grant reporting and management Oversee impact and budgets of core programs, drawing upon existing and creating new relationships to maximize impact and ensure cost efficiencies and ongoing viability of each program Provide oversight for two full time employees and outside consultants Serve as the face and media liaison of the organization; and participate in external events to increase visibility and credibility Provide executive direction for program strategies and efficiencies, compliance, quality assurance, branding and community relations Create a culture of inclusivity internally and externally Advancement Working with the Manager of Strategic Partnerships, Increase membership and utilization of the Commissary facility, and oversight of special events promoting the Commissary and capabilities of Member businesses Review and analyze current Member participation data and work with the Board of Managers and staff to increase Member operating revenue and program participation Program Oversee business development service delivery for start- up and growing businesses Track, evaluate and report on the outcomes of programs to ensure high quality results from a mission and operational perspective Community and Member Relations Manage existing and cultivate new community relationships with partnering organizations, municipal and public stakeholders, and private businesses to advance the Commissarys mission Initiate programmatic efforts to position Commissary-made products in public markets, food shows, local distributors, and local businesses PREFERED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Five years hands-on operational management in a dynamic environment at a senior management level, preferably with nonprofit organizations or food and beverage businesses Three years supervisory experience Strong experience in fundraising and grant writing, with prior experience in implementation of long term fundraising strategies Experience managing budgets Knowledge of leadership and management principles for nonprofit organizations Proven success working with a Board of Directors Entrepreneurial mindset, with innovative approaches to business development Exceptional verbal and written communication skills Passion about the Commissarys mission and values Dynamic team player who enjoys being the public face of a nonprofit organization Maintains a broad network of collaborators in the community including nonprofits, government agencies, funders, other collaborators, consultants and regulators and food experts Note: This position requires frequent on-site work and involves occasional evening and weekend hours for special events.
