Job Summary

The OrthoSpine Surgical Tech Team Lead is responsible for coordinating and leading OrthoSpine & Clinical Support Team in providing high-quality patient care. This role involves overseeing the daily operations of OrthoSpine surgery and ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.

Frye Regional Medical Center, located in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina is a 355-bed acute care hospital, 81-bed Behavioral Health facility and more than 70 primary and specialty care providers.

 

Essential Functions

1. Team Leadership:

o Ensuring efficient and effective teamwork.

o Schedules, assign tasks, ensure equipment and supplies are sufficient for cases that are scheduled and ensure supplies are available for emergencies.

 

2. Patient Care:

o Assist with patient care procedures.

o Ensure patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality throughout the procedure.

o Educate staff and patients on pre- and post-procedure instructions.

 

3. Equipment and Supplies:

o Maintain and manage OrthoSpine equipment and supplies, ensuring availability and proper functioning.

o Collaborate with the materials management team for inventory control and ordering.

o Collaborates with reps regarding supplies and products for procedures.

 

4. Quality Assurance:

o Oversee infection control and sterilization processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

o Monitor and maintain quality assurance and improvement programs.

 

5. Documentation and Record-keeping:

o Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient records and procedure-related data.

o Assist in maintaining electronic health records (EHR) and paper-based records as necessary.

 

6. Training and Development:

o Provide training and mentorship to OR staff, keeping them updated on best practices and industry standards.

o Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.

 

7. Regulatory Compliance:

o Stay up-to-date with state and federal regulations, ensuring compliance.

o Assist in the preparation for regulatory audits and inspections.

 

8. Emergency Response:

o Be prepared to respond to emergency situations and assist in emergency procedures during OrthoSpine surgeries.

 

9. Patient Advocacy:

o Advocate for patients' needs and concerns, ensuring they receive high-quality care and support.

Minimum Education/Work Experience

• Surgical Technologist with at least 5 years of experience in OrthoSpine Procedures

• Strong leadership and communication skills.

• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.

• Knowledge of healthcare regulations, infection control, and patient safety.

 

The OrthoSpine Team Lead works in a clinical healthcare environment within Surgical Services. The role requires flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, to accommodate patient schedules and on-call duties in some healthcare settings.
