Pipeline Operator I – Plains Midstream Canada Overview Plains All American is an industry‑leading transportation and midstream provider specializing in the storage, processing and marketing of crude oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs). The company operates an extensive pipeline network across key producing basins in the United States and Canada. We are seeking highly motivated individuals who thrive in a dynamic, team‑based, entrepreneurial environment. Job Type: Regular Responsibilities Operate petroleum product movements in and out of pipeline pump stations; assess, quantify, and qualify crude oil or refined products. Inspects pumps and valves to ensure proper operation. Accurately measure quality and quantity of crude oil per Plains procedures and report results. Conduct monthly DOT tankage, fire extinguisher, and other safety inspections, maintaining associated records. Inspect perimeter fencing, locks, and other security measures; report infractions. Ensure routine and DOT compliance maintenance on right‑of‑way, equipment, and valves. Maintain communications with the Pipeline Control Center. Act as witness to meter proving and crude oil shipments; run pipeline pigs as required. Perform additional pipeline‑related tasks or projects as directed by the Operations Supervisor. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required High school diploma or equivalent. Pipeline knowledge and experience, with the ability to manage pump station, pipeline, and crude oil shipping responsibilities. Ability to read and comprehend technical operational manuals. Basic math and computer/PC skills. Proficiency in calculating fluid flow, batch scheduling, and using sampling equipment. Valid driver’s license to operate company vehicles. English language proficiency (speak, read, write). Strong organizational and record‑keeping skills. Ability to obtain operator qualifications, complete Haz‑Mat training, safety programs, and meet minimum DOT requirements. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; capable of working independently and with minimal supervision. Physical ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds and perform tasks that involve working, stooping, kneeling, bending, climbing, and walking over various terrains. Willingness to work outdoors in extreme heat and cold, accommodate travel, overtime, extreme weather, and an on‑call rotation. Qualifications Valid U.S. driver's license with a clean abstract. Cleared background check and satisfactory reference checks. Compliance with the company’s drug and alcohol policy, including pre‑employment screening.
