**Description**
A Patient Sitter assists nursing employees with monitoring assigned patients under the direction and guidance of a staff nurse to provide observation of patients as a "sitter" only. The Patient Sitter provides constant observation to patients who may be in danger of harming themselves or acting in an unsafe manner. The patient sitter provides a safe environment for the patient requiring one to one observation. Is accountable for own action in performing sitter duties as trained. There are no clinical skills associated with this position. Must be able to focus attention on patient and patients activity and remain alert for an extended period of time. Previous hospital experience preferred. Possess good and pleasant communication and customer service skills. BLS required within three (3) months of hire, CPI training required within six (6) months of hire -- or similar training. All other duties assigned as seen fit.
