Position Overview

We're seeking an experienced and safety-focused Foreman to lead our field crews on excavation and site development projects. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, technical expertise in excavation work, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of excavation crews on job sites
• Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and project specifications
• Operate and oversee the operation of heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, and backhoes
• Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies
• Conduct daily safety meetings and toolbox talks with crew members
• Monitor project progress, productivity, and quality standards
• Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and subcontractors
• Manage materials, equipment, and tools on site
• Train and mentor crew members on proper techniques and safety procedures
• Maintain accurate daily reports and time records
• Troubleshoot problems and implement solutions in the field

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in excavation, grading, or civil construction
• 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
• Extensive knowledge of excavation equipment operation
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and site plans
• Strong understanding of OSHA safety regulations and best practices
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record
• CDL license preferred but not required
• OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification preferred
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Physical Requirements

This position requires standing, walking, bending, and working outdoors in various weather conditions throughout the workday. Must be able to climb on and off equipment and work on uneven terrain.
