What You'll Do: 

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting team in various professional level accounting duties, including various bank and general ledger reconciliations. Ensures that transactions comply with GAAP and company policies and procedures. This role is Temporary with the potential to convert to a direct hire position. This position will be in our Newport Beach, CA office.

Your Key Responsibilities Include: 

• Daily matching of receipts, checks, and wires to actual deposits, checks, and wires issued to all escrow accounts to ensure timely receipt and deposit of funds.
• Work closely with Escrow team members to reconcile outstanding daily issues not matched between SoftPro (title software) and the bank accounts.
• Daily journal entries in accounting software for revenue received.
• Initiate wires and ACH transfers for seller proceeds and broker commissions on closed files.
• Daily and Monthly bank reconciliation of all escrow accounts.
• Monthly review of outstanding escrow checks over 60 and 90 days old. Communication with closing teams and clients to ensure checks are cleared, and the disposition of funds is finalized.
• Quarterly reconciliation and preparation of the State guaranty fees.
• Crosstrain in other duties of the Accounting Department.
• Reconcile and prepare statistical data.
• Prepare month-end entries, accruals, and allocations.
• Prepare general ledger reconciliations.
• Provide support and assist with projects as needed.
• Assist with annual state filing and audits.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

What You Have: 

• Computer Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite- strong Excel skills are required.
• Knowledge in SoftPro and Loan Vision (industry software), a plus.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with all levels of employees.
• Must have exhibited initiation skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Prior experience working in a fast-paced, month-end driven environment.

Education and Experience: 

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Accounting or finance Degree, preferred.
• Must have 3+ years of proven accounting and/or title bookkeeping experience, including wiring funds.
• Accounting experience within the mortgage or escrow industry, a plus.

Compensation: 

Compensation: Century Communities (the "Company") intends to offer the selected candidate an hourly rate in the range of $30.00 - $35.00. Actual offers will be based on a variety of factors, including experience.
