Overview Iconic London-based wine and spirits company launching its first American location is seeking a General Manager for the entire US entity. This role focuses on growing the US customer base of home collectors, delivering sales through relationship building and a level of service aligned to hospitality, and ensuring high standards to optimize customer engagement and service excellence. This role is in-office in DC. Duties and Responsibilities Work closely with the MD International & Auctions to develop and deliver the USA business plan in line with targets. Develop and deliver annual plans and appropriate customer, sales and service performance measures (revenue, margin, customer acquisition and NPS). Establish the Year 1 team for the US operation; set clear goals and targets for direct and indirect reports; recruit and onboard new team members as appropriate. Provide leadership and direction to local teams, ensuring hospitality and relationship-driven service as the foundation of customer experience. Support the performance, growth and development of individual team members. Develop thought leadership to be recognised as a market leader and trusted destination. Stay apprised of the competitive environment in the market and provide accurate information on the fine wine and spirits market. Develop strong relationships with the Sales & Service teams and UK-based functional teams to ensure operational efficiency and consistently high levels of service. Ensure compliance with US and UK anti-bribery, GDPR and Health & Safety legislation. Job Requirements A smart, energetic, engaging leader with a start-up mentality; able to create a hospitality- and relationship-driven business; focused on delivering results and establishing the company in the USA. Experience in engaging with new vision, bringing energy and flair. Strong all-round business and management skills; experience leading B2C sales teams in high-service/luxury cultures. Adaptable and flexible; comfortable in a start-up environment. Understanding of the experiential nature of the current and future wine business; able to relate to the next generation of wine consumers. Exemplary communication skills, internal and external; proven ability to motivate teams; skilled in delegation and coaching. Fine wine expertise is not mandatory; strong people and management skills are prioritized. Hospitality and relationship-building experience is beneficial.
