Summary:

Messerli Kramer is a leading law firm in the twin cities founded in 1965 with locations in Minneapolis, St. Paul and Plymouth, Minnesota. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented & on-site Accounting Manager to support our Plymouth Division. This Division provides consumer collections services to financial institutions. The Accounting Manager oversees the accounting team of 15+ staff and manages the accounting and collections processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness. This role also maintains 40+ trust accounts and a $2M+ accounts receivable portfolio.

The stating wage for this position is $90,000-$115,000/year based on relevant experience

 

Essential Functions and Duties:

Supervise team of Accounting Representatives

  • Interviewing & Hiring of Staff
  • Training & Development
  • Scheduling & Timekeeping
  • Conducting Annual Performance Reviews

Oversee the completion of daily tasks by team members including hands on handing of tasks as needed

  • Posting and balancing of all incoming funds, posting mixed trust payments, posting all forwarded attorney remits, posting of all returned checks, posting/printing process for post-dated checks, posting of all direct pays from clients
  • Online image deposit process
  • Payment of all court costs, sheriff fees, all forwarded attorney costs and fees, out of town attorney fees
  • Incoming/outgoing ACHs wires
  • Processing and sending of remits, debtor overpayment refunds, preference claims/refunds, court cost refunds to clients
  • POE/Bank levy returns
  • Processing voids
  • Running all court cost invoices/accounts receivable
  • Reconciling client A/R EFTs, EDI client reconciliations
  • Balancing adjustments on debtor claims, Judgment entry and balancing
  • Researching payments for internal clients
  • Project management of ongoing and new projects in the Accounting Department as assigned
  • Annual escheatment process
  • Manage line of credit usage across various trust accounts
  • Respond to client audit finding and provide actions for remediation

Required Education & Experience:

  • 5+ previous years experience in accounting, finance or related field
  • 4-year degree (required)
  • Experience with accounting software (Microsoft 365 Dynamics Business Central/QuickBooks preferred)

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

This role operates in a professional office setting, routinely working with standard office equipment. Generally, due to the nature of this office position, the person in this role would be required to talk and hear, sit or stand for long period of time, and use their hands and fingers, to handle and feel. Requires a high level of visual focus on a computer monitor for extended periods.
