Location: Silver City, NM Position Classification: Adjunct Employment Type: Part-Time Benefits: Part-Time (Less than 30 hours), Not Benefitted Department: School of Behavioral Sciences Summary Use appropriate teaching methods to facilitate student learning for Psychology and Criminal Justice courses. Duties Teach synchronous or asynchronous courses using current technology applicable to the discipline, which may include face-to-face, online, and/or video-conferenced courses as needed. Follow the master syllabus and course shell provided. Meet all designated course instruction guidelines, including posting weekly announcements, monitoring discussions, grading coursework within one week, providing timely feedback, responding to student inquiries within 24 hours, maintaining weekly virtual office hours, and other department-established requirements. Submit mid-term and end-of-term grades by the required deadlines according to WNMU procedures. Provide appropriate feedback to the WNMU main campus to improve course quality. Complete all required trainings, assessments, and documentation, and stay current with trends in distance learning. Participate in assessment and reporting as per department and university standards. Maintain a positive, safe, inclusive, student-centric learning environment, enforcing WNMU policies including the student code of conduct and policies from the Behavioral Sciences department and Office of Academic Affairs. Model professional standards and ethics in line with WNMU philosophy. Perform other duties as assigned. Education/Background Psychology: Master’s degree or graduate certificate with at least 18 graduate credits in Psychology. Criminal Justice: Master’s degree or graduate certificate with at least 18 graduate credits in criminal justice, criminology, or a related field. Job Knowledge Ability to work collaboratively, interact effectively with colleagues, faculty, administrators, students, and external constituencies. Effectiveness in face-to-face and online teaching, advising, mentoring, scholarship, and service. Knowledge of university policies and procedures. Ability to handle multiple deadlines accurately. Sensitivity to cultural differences. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Working Conditions/Physical Demands Normal classroom and laboratory environment. May require lifting equipment/materials. Visual acuity for reading screens and printed materials. Clear speech and verbal communication skills. Hearing ability for conversations and responses. Manual dexterity for typing and writing. Ability to bend, crouch, walk, kneel, and sit for extended periods. May require additional hours depending on circumstances.
