Design Intern with a sharp eye for trends, fabrics, and a refined design aesthetic. Our NYC-based internship offers a unique opportunity for college students to immerse themselves in the world of contemporary fashion design and learn directly from industry leaders. We're looking for driven, detail-oriented, and creative thinkers who thrive in a fast-paced environment and can contribute to all levels of the design process. This is a full-time, paid internship in our LF Markets USA division.
Location: New York, NY
Start Date: December 2024 or January 2025
Hours per Week: 40
Duration: 6 months
Hourly Rate: $20.00 per hour
Roles and Responsibilities: - Conduct in-depth market research on current trends in fabric, trim, wash, and styling, particularly within the contemporary and elevated womenswear market.
- Hand sketch detailed garment designs that highlight a sophisticated design aesthetic, showcasing intricate details and unique design elements.
- Create flat sketches using Adobe Illustrator and develop tech packs with a solid understanding of garment construction.
- Collaborate with designers to create original embroideries, prints, and patterns, utilizing hand sketches and digital tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Assist in developing seasonal trend reports and client presentations tailored to a luxury, elevated womenswear market.
- Help organize and manage the fabric library, ensuring it is updated with the latest fabric trends and samples relevant to contemporary womenswear.
- Maintain an organized design room and showroom to foster a productive and creative workspace.
- Support designers with fittings, mood board creation, sample management, and other day-to-day tasks.
Skills & Requirements: - Must be a Fashion Design major with a passion for contemporary and elevated womenswear.
- Exceptional hand-sketching skills, with the ability to translate creative ideas into refined illustrations.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop); knowledge of 3D software (CLO, Browzwear, etc.) is a plus.
- Strong team player with a passion for design and product development.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and effectively set priorities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
